School Climate Survey For Parents
Every two years schools complete an anonymous School Climate Survey of their students, parents and staff. The DDSB Safe Schools Department, in collaboration with the Assessment and Accountability Department has created a survey to gather data on how safe and accepted students feel at their school. This data can then be used by our Safe and Accepting Schools Team to help make decisions in creating, maintaining and improving a safe and caring learning environment for all students.
Students in grades 4 to 8 will be completing the survey at school. We would appreciate all parents and / or guardians taking a few moments to complete this online survey. The survey must be completed in one sitting as you will not be able to access it again to complete at a future time. You are allowed to go back to previous pages to make changes if needed, but once the survey has been submitted, there can be no re-entry. Please click "Done" at the end of the survey. Thank you for taking the time to provide us with this valuable feedback. The survey will be active until November 25th.
Change in Hours for Crossing Guard
Please note that there will be a slight change in the hours of the crossing guard on Central Park Blvd. and Hillcroft St. effective November 4th.
The times the guard will be on duty are as follows:
7:50 - 8:45 a.m. 11:05 - 11:25 a.m. 11:35 - 12:00 p.m. 2:50 - 3:45 p.m.
If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact the school office.
Report Bullying Now!
The Durham District School Board works with its school communities to prevent bullying in our schools. Bullying is unacceptable.
"Report Bullying Now" was created to provide students, parents and community members the opportunity to report bullying at their school through the internet.
All DDSB school websites and the board’s site now have a button on them which reads "Report Bullying Now". Anyone can click on this link and report bullying.
At Walter E. Harris Public School, we are committed to providing a positive school environment for everyone. Our staff implement a number of proactive strategies to prevent incidences of bullying. If bullying does occur, it is important that it is reported to school staff. The sooner trusted adults intervene in a situation, the more quickly it can be resolved.
Students are encouraged to speak to their teacher, vice-principal or principal whenever they feel threatened or unsafe. Students and parents may also report bullying using the Report Bullying Now button.
We thank everyone in our school community for working together to stop bullying now.
